Re: Garment House
don't like the concept. I like the space, but the membership angle seems very P&L.

Re: Garment House
I wonder what $40 all you can drink gets you in the way of quality of booze. Also, I wonder how tipping works. Would it suck to work there? I imagine people paying up front for drinks are less likely to tip for each drink, unless it is like some club in Cancun where you have to tip to get someone's attention.
Re: Garment House
It would seem that the key question here is who is the operator?
Is it the owner of 1000?
Or, a tenant with hospitality experience and proven customer service skills?

Re: Garment House
I was curious about all of this, so I got a membership. I'll report back with details after I've been there.

Isn't there a coffee shop literally a block away? Soho or something? It's pretty good, but it just has bad hours.KCPowercat wrote:Strange. Should have done a coffee shop.

$40 a night for booze and appetizers. And the ability to socialize.
Seems a little steep to me, but I suppose if you pound enough drinks and eat enough mini crab cakes you could break even.

I think it would be classic if the very first night they opened, they tried to sell everyone a time share.

Re: Garment House
Seems like a Quality Hill location dictates a neighborhood, laid back atmosphere. See Quaff. Maybe I'm wrong. There's nothing wrong with an exclusive club atmosphere, and in a larger downtown, I'm sure the concept would have a chance.
But, in downtown KC, I feel like you can easily become a victim of your location. I wish em luck. But, wouldn't be surprised to see dark windows in 6 months.

Seems to me its trying to bring back the KC / University Club atmosphere....

Pretty much nailed it. Just received the following email from one of the two partners:KC-wildcat wrote:Seems like a Quality Hill location dictates a neighborhood, laid back atmosphere. See Quaff. Dear Members and Friends,
I want to let you know that I am no longer involved with or affiliated with Garment House.
My partner and I started with the same vision, however our visions are no longer in sync.
If it were solely my decision, it would continue to operate as it was but he would like to turn it into event space.
Thank you to everyone that supported me and Garment House while it was open.

Re: Garment House
That didn't take long.
Re: Garment House
Can't say I'm surprised, but I was hoping it could hold out.
