Best Happy Hour in KC

Post by supastudio »

What places have the best happy hour in KC? Normal happy hour (approx 3pm-7pm) and for reverse happy hour (10pm to close).

Bluestem. Huge food discounts from the lounge menu, 20 or 30% off bottles of wine. Not sure if there are drink specials other than the bottle special?

What are the times? I'm trying to make a list of places for whenever I have guest in town or whenever my group want's to try out new places.

Unless they have changed it, 5-7PM on the weekdays (excluding Monday).

Extra Virgin's happy hour is also pretty good (1/2 off on any dish with an asterisk), with an almost absurd timeframe (11AM-6PM) during the weekdays.

Seconded. Unless it's changed, all the food (except "bar snacks") is half price. And awesome.

the food is not exactly "half price" anymore, but still a good deal. for example, the awesome hangar steak entree that is $14 is now $10 at happy hour and not $7. it was an insane steal at $7, and is still a steal at $10. i think a lot of the food is still 50% off though, they just trimmed it back on select items.

Agreed, that hanger steak + frites was absolutely bonkers for $7. And the shrimp and grits. And the kobe burger. Sigh. Still a hell of a deal, though.

Yes, on bluestem. Ridiculous. And there are other drink specials, maybe $7 martinis and $3 BLVD beer or something.

Bluestem and The Drop (Martini Corner) are my two faves. The Drop has a tasty cheap meat/cheese plate, wide variety of very good bruschettas and other various tasty smallplates, arugula salad has depth, the pastry dessert also top notch. Cheap drinks too, $3.50 tonic drinks. I think HH also runs to 7PM.

Bluestem is great, but in order to not simply list Bluestem 17 times in a row, I'd also add the Bristol. If you sit at the bar, they have half price "bar menu" items and cheap oysters. The duck flatbread is very good (5PM-7PM).

It has been a while, but I think Farmhouse has half price wine by the glass and half off on small plates. Unfortunately, it is a Happy Hour that ends at 6PM, but it was a great deal.

Tannin looks like they have some great deals with 50% off wines from 11:30AM-4PM and 25% off wine with 50% off starters from 4PM-6PM. Looks like you could get mussels and salmon flatbread for $11.

I've heard from others (probably here) that Webster House has good specials for Happy Hour and that the burger is quite good.

I'll echo Bristol. They had a great mussels dish and I believe on Wednesdays during happy hour, lobster is ridiculously cheap.

Hickok's, while not at the level of Bristol or Bluestem has a more than adequate happy hour. Cheap drinks and above average mexican/bar snacks.

Plus it's right down the street from my house.
