Re: KANROCKSAS
To me it just seems like a terrible location for a concert in August...no shade, standing on the infield of a NASCAR track :-s Why not have it at Livestrong Park next year? I wish the owners of Sandstone would invest a couple million into bringing that amphitheater to top notch (bigger stage, new restrooms and concessions, etc.)

Re: KANROCKSAS
The infield at the Speedway (about 286k square meters) is about 28x bigger than a soccer pitch (10k square meters, or about the size of the entire seating area of Sandstone). You maybe could get 30k people in Livestrong using the field. Sandstone seats probably 5k at max. Promoters were hoping for 80 to 100k at Kanrocksas. Plus almost all of those people camped. That's why they hold it in a big field with no shade. They hold it in August because nobody else has festivals like this in August and they can book big name acts. If it takes off, look for it to move to a cooler weekend. But not a change in venue. Speedway is the only location that can handle an even of that size. Used to be 70k people at Monsters of Rock at Arrowhead but that was a one day event.
You have to start somewhere.

Re: KANROCKSAS
Best of luck to them. More events in kc the better....even ones I couldn't be paid to attend and camp.

Many bands I wanted to see, not in that form.

You didn't have to camp. I went with a group of about 15 and none of us did.

Re: KANROCKSAS
Went both nights and had a blast. Everything was done really well and the sound was fantastic at every stage. Been to a lot of festivals and I don't remember the sound being as good at any of them as it was at Kanrocksas. The heat wasn't even that bad, especially on Friday. I am not a Muse or Eminem fan but both put on a good show. Hope they do it again next year but I think they probably lost their arses on this one. I scalped tickets both nights and talked to a lot of people that did the same and all of the tickets were comped, seemed like they gave a ton away.

Re: KANROCKSAS
I thought it was extremely organized as well. Not sure I've ever been to an event that ran as smoothly as Kanrocksas did. We went home both nights (vs camping) and never had any traffic problems coming or going; I never had to wait in line to get water; The sound was fantastic! I actually haven't read a single bad review of the event, as a whole.
Yesterday, there was an article that said they did lose money, though they knew it would take 3+ years to be profitable (http://www.shawneedispatch.com/news/201 ... izers-say/)
And if you haven't read this (http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainmen ... sh/243409/), a humorous take on the event's trash

Re: KANROCKSAS
Kanrocksas made it to the Headlines segment of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
It was basically a paper showing the rules and codes of conduct for the event. The joke was the excessive "limit" of alcohol and hard liquor that was allowed, per person.

Not a surprise. Those that hate that kind of music and hate Kansas should be happy.

I wouldn't dislike it nearly as much if they changed the name.

His rebuttal in the comments section ("Admin") is classic HC. 'I'm a poorly informed douche? No, you're a poorly informed douche! See what I did there!?'DiggityDawg wrote:Jesus fucking Christ, that was a horrible written story. Hearne is such a hack.

That is a pretty good line up!
Also, buzz under the stars night one has a really good line up as well- for only $25. KC has a great concert season lined up...wish i had more money/time.
