Diners, Drive ins and Dives may return to KC, where should I send them?
Diners, Drive ins and Dives may return to KC, where should I send them?
DDD called me and asked where they should go: within 60 miles of KC what does the Forum think?

Those two were already included when they visited Grinders - the clips just wound up in different episodes.chrizow wrote: mama's...

I would think the original OK Joes gas station location would be the epitome of both a "drive in" and a "dive".
I picture Guy being very amused by being able to stop and pick up a package of hostess cupcakes and some pork rinds on the way out.

Christie's Tasty Freeze in KCK for the Pork Tenderloin
Woodswether for sure - any number of good dishes - and Jerry's always good interview
Peanut - BLTs and Wings
City Diner - would think their pancake schtick would go over well on that show
And, of course, The K. I assume he'll make another in-game appearance with Joel Goldberg?

If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.

I would think the Mad Greek would be right up their alley - funky and family owned - founded by an old couple (one italian and one greek with a menu split 50/50 between the two). Best cheap brunch around.elextendo wrote: I dont know lawrence very well anything funky there?

Not really funky or unbelievable, but the Wang Burger at the Wheel is a college staple. Local Burger could be interesting. Burrito King is a late-night drive-through Mexican place.elextendo wrote: Woodyard bbq, Succatash,Peanut on main, Woodsweather.. I dont know lawrence very well anything funky there?

How about a couple of the places on Kansas Ave in KCK: Ninfa's and El Pollo Rey
Re: Diners, Drive ins and Dives may return to KC, where should I send them?
Maybe you could get DDD to do a joint venture with Extreme Home Makeover and go to Pancho's on Main for a little rehab orgy. Oops, that's not a burrito!

Has to go to OK Joe's.

Woodswether, the original OK Joe's, or one of the Mex places on the Boulevard (not Manny's) would be my top local suggestions. Tarantino's would have been on my list had they not gone and closed up. :(
I'd also consider Wabash BBQ in Excelsior Springs
Whenever I go on a trips, I always consult the DDD web site to look for a must-eat meal near where I'm going. :)
(Nowhere near KC, but one place I've been that's PERFECT for his show is a place in Victor, Idaho called Grumpy's Goat Shack. It's a converted 1-car garage, with the driveway acting as a patio. The menu consists of things that are either cooked on the outdoor grill or in the microwave, but they've put together a pretty creative menu of some really good food. The best burger I've ever had came from there. And yes, there are goats around back.)

Sounds like he should go to either Hamburger Mary's or Fran's, from the impression I get from this crowd.
