New club "Czar Bar" in Late Night Theater space
I overheard a couple of women at Grinders tonight, talking about a new bar/club opening up in the former Late Night Theater space on Grand. I think one said that it was going to be run by somebody who was somehow affiliated with Velvet Dog. I checked Kiva, and, sure enough, the Czar Bar.

Re: New club in Late Night Theater space
I rode my bike by the other day and saw a couple construction guys and one in businessy clothes in the doorway and stopped to chat...it was very awkward. They didn't seem to want to talk to me. I asked what the place was going to be and they just said a "typical bar" and stared at me uncomfortably. I asked if they would have music, food, etc and he just said "Not sure yet." Sorry, this post was basically worthless. I tried!
I will say that the inside was GUTTED....busted concrete and dust and everything...so they have been doing some heavy demolitiony stuff.

it was kind of a mess when late night was the tenant, so a complete gutting doesn't surprise me. i'm not even sure it had heat or AC!PumpkinStalker wrote: I will say that the inside was GUTTED....busted concrete and dust and everything...so they have been doing some heavy demolitiony stuff.

Found their Myspace. They already have 20 friends and mention March 1 as possible Grand Opening.
