Hamburger Mary's

Post by GuyInLenexa »

I heard a rumor, from a reliable source, that a group of businessmen are looking at getting a Hamburger Mary's. The original one is in San Diego, I have been there and the one in Fort Lauderdale.
A really cool place.
Dallas is getting one next year. I could see Westport or around Midtown for this place.

Not Really Gay

Post by GuyInLenexa »

It is gay friendly and gay owned. Your not going to see two guys making out in it or something.
The menu and atmosphere is cool.
It would be an asses to the pantheon of eating places in KC

It's a gay restaurant in Honolulu also. I liked it because it was all outside under the palm trees filled with christmas lights.
Suburban Sprawl - Cut down all of the trees and name the streets after them.

hehe, yeah, it's really purple.  Sort of matches the Missouri Bank logo, however, and certainly takes advantage of the visual impact of that high-visibility spot.  I wonder what if any modifications they'll make to the rooftop bar/deck area?

But yeah, not so sure about the color scheme..still thinking the place is a great catch for the xroads.
are we spinning free?

Hopefully they spring for some awnings - the bbq people paid to have a big awning frame built and apparently must have run out of money before getting the actual awning - the bare frame always looked pretty tacky.

So, other than this place being "gay-friendly" or whatever that even means, does anyone have anything to say about the food?  Is this a burger joint with a drag queen theme, or a drag queen hangout that also serves burgers?

Mostly burgers on the menu.  There were I think three salads - the asian chicken looked good.  All burgers are angus and were quite large.  I had the 'regular' burger and it was tasty.  They have wings, sliders and a couple other aps and a few sandwiches.

I don't think associating the place with drag queens is 100% correct - for sure not a drage queen hangout w/burgers.  I think they will have some theme nights in the bar portion.  They're still planning out the 'schedule' and working through some kinks or opening quickly.  They're open for lunch/dinner, but no Sunday liquor license, yet.
