I believe the land along K-10 directly east of Lawrence is a flood plain. There was a lot of water between Lawrence and Eudora during the flood of '93. You'll probably never see much of anything in that valley area. Plus a lot of people in Lawrence don't want to remain a seperate city from JoCo rather than evolving into a part of KC's sprawl.
