So, how does the expanded Schlitterbahn as shown on the map compare with Oceans of Fun?

I think it definitely compares more in size now, but as far as amenities I believe that Oceans of Fun still offers more.  I also think that Schlitterbahn is more spread out but the difference is that you don't have to walk from ride to ride, you can float there.

Anyone been by the site or to the park this summer? How is the expansion going? Saw some recent tripadvisor.com reviews that were very negative.

I went back in June when the expansion wasn't complete.  I don't know if it's done yet or not, but I enjoyed the park for what it had.  It looked like they were working on 2 or 3 new rides that were almost finished.  When I was there they had 4 slide rides, and another smaller ride, and then the torrent river which was my favorite.

I went a couple of weeks ago and none of the new stuff was opened. One new slide looked done but not opened.  We still had fun but I can understand if people going there are peeved. They really need to get it together.

Is it worth the admission price compared to OOF?

Expansion still not open and their season is almost over. Overpriced for just what they have open now

Anyone know what's the latest out there? Looks like they did no construction this year. You'd think they could at least erect a nice sign so visitors would know where to enter the place (more than once I've had people tell me they didn't see the actual entrance to it at first).

My family has went there every year for the last three years, every time in August. There was new rides available this year and more places to sit in the shade. We had a lot of fun and I would say it feels more put together this year.

I agree the entrance does need some work.

They also seem to be now constructing a proper entrance drive just off 435 and State Avenue. The other entrance they've been using is maybe a temporary one anyway.

Doesn't look like their big new ride will be finished for this season. And the new outer road seems to be taking forever (although I understand it's the city or county that's building it). Again, one wonders why everything seems to take so much longer to get done out there.

I've been out there twice this season, once on a Monday and the last a couple Saturday's ago. BOTH times have been busy(less on Monday) but still pretty long lines once the day starts. The worlds tallest/fastest water slide will open next season and they continue to build out. The boardwalk/shops/resort will probaby start up in the next couple years.

The biggest value to me is that the park is easy in terms of layout, almost all rides are accessible by floating along the rivers. No parking fees, no tube fees, and the ability to bring in your own food/drink are all pluses. There's a hidden gem as well. Lots of people don't seem to realize there's a short but fun water chute ride called the Mighty Mo. I'd been here four times prior and never knew it was there.

I went to Oceans of Fun a few weeks ago and it has me longing to try Schlitterbahn again. The $15 parking, $5 tube rental, $14 lunch (burger/coke) were huge issues for me. I also like their barcode wristbands that allow you to load money and leave your cash or debit card behind. The little things add up at Oceans and I'd rather be waiting in line for a ride in the water at Schlitterbahn instead of next to large mobs of white trash at OOF.

The park was announced in 2005. So, OK, it's been eight years and the place still looks like a never-ending construction zone. They've never even built a permanent entrance sign!
