I'm still a bit surprized that QT would consider it after the recent remodel down the street (87th & Farley).

That being said, it is a perfect location for such a thing.

Maybe they want to expand and can't.

Perhaps. If life ever gets back to normal I'll ask the guys behind the counter - normally I drop by there a few times a week, late at night.

Preliminary Plan for QuikTrip #253 was approved at the 19 May 2020 Lenexa City Council Meeting.

Some rough sketches are available in the Council Packet online.

Has another approval coming up.

I wouldn't be surprised if it closed with little warning once the new one is open. They did exactly that in Shawnee when they opened a new location on Shawnee Mission Parkway. A couple weeks after it opened, they closed the one at 67th and Neiman. As I recall, the question had come up before construction as to whether they would keep that location open, and they said they would.

I did have a chance to ask a couple of the workers at the 87th & Farley location recently, they were not even aware of the new location being proposed.

Update: some heavy equipment appeared at the site yesterday and today the building is about half demolished.

I was wondering about that the other day when I was washing my car across the street and nothing appeared to have happened.

Drove by it today - building and parking lot are completely gone - down to dirt.

Well, there goes my hope against hope for getting pancakes there again.

Theirs still other Perkins in area.

Minor update: work continues at the site, now doing some above ground work. It might be the start of exterior walls, but can't tell for sure.

The QT site work next to Top Golf is well under way as well. Looks like the store will face west with the pumps aligned along Nall.

New QT on 87th is progressing well. 3 exterior walls are mostly up.

Today they had the underground tanks on site and the hole dug - but they were fighting the rain
