A bit off thread, I know, but - every now and then I have reason to drive southbound down Metcalf from I-35. Yesterday was the most recent. I continue to be impressed by the building projects that are giving that the entire corridor a much needed face lift. I'm not sure (maybe someone can help me out) if the two or three large multi-story buildings to the west and east around 80th street are, but they are impressive looking and really add new life and dimension to the aging area. I think there is another similar building going up further south, as well. It's just good to see OP making an effort to re-invigorate the original crossroads areas of their municipality.

All are apartment projects, with some ground level retail. Another large project has been approved in downtown OP that will have office, apartment and restaurants. Yes, the Metcalf corridor is looking much better.

Big changes coming there for sure. The Edison project to the west will be huge.

This from the Star today. Development looks pretty substantial: $250 MM. I am wondering, however, if the company (Shamrock Trading) has the wherewithal to pull it off and then occupy it let alone deliver the promised jobs. I am always skeptical when smallish companies promise to triple their workforce over 5 years (current work force: 550) for subsidies (albeit a "small" incentive) to move across the street.

Its been a while since I have driven down Metcalf. I was really surprised by the Shamrock towers construction.

It's a bit of a shock to the system (and a pleasant surprise, so to speak) if one is seeing that area for the first time since all the construction began a few years ago.
