This is a wild guess, but I suspect it's not opening in the next three days.

Any new updates on this? I have looked just about everywhere I can, and I can not find anything. I thought about emailing the city... I live really close to this site and have been wondering..

Thanks

I'm answering this myself, I just saw some updates on the city council page.

Posted 2/8/19 "In the past two weeks, the bonds for both the Aloft and Element hotels and The Backyard apartments in the One North Redevelopment have closed. The hotel’s construction permits have been issued and the plans for the apartments have been approved. Staff has a preconstruction meeting with the apartment developer next week and construction activities for both projects will commence in the near future (weather pending)."

Posted 2/1/19 "Community Development issued a permit for the construction of the new hotel/conference center in One North and held a pre-construction meeting with the contractor on Monday. The Industrial Development Bonds for the project closed on January 24th. The contractor is currently mobilizing on the site to begin construction."

But still no news on the golf place, the water park, or the Old Chicago that had all announced 2018 openings.

Water park??
Calling it a "water park" is a bit of a stretch. http://flowhouse.com/. I met with them in Orlando back in November at the IAAPA trade show and they said they were still on track to break ground 2019.

I saw this recently regarding Flow house.

"Flow House, Interstate 35 and Armour Road. Spring 2020 opening (subject to two new hotels finishing construction)"
https://inkkc.com/articles/225178025/

The article also mentions Old Chicago.. no opening date..??

"Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom, 10920 N.W. Ambassador Drive for a fall opening. No opening date was available for another Old Chicago slated for the One North development at Interstate 35 and Armour Road in North Kansas City."

Update, 3/16/19.

I saw in the North Kansas City newsletter some additional information.

"Aloft and Element Hotels
These dual-branded, Aloft and Element, hotels are part
of the boutique line of Marriott. The hotels will host
200 rooms - 100 rooms for Aloft and 100 rooms for
Element, and be anchored by a shared 5,000-squarefoot
conference center.
The property, which is expected to open in July 2020,
will feature a breakfast dining area, a grab-and-go
counter, a bar, an indoor pool, a fitness room, a multicomputer
lobby workstation, a market pantry, a guest
laundry room, and an outdoor patio and fire pit."

"The Backyard Apartments
The Backyard Apartments
development is a 4-story,
71,300-square-foot complex
featuring 240 units of market-rate
apartments. Residents will have
access to an internal courtyard
featuring a pool, hot tub, rain
garden, and fire pit area. The
complex will be gated for added
security, offer covered parking and
will have a private dog park for
residents to use.

Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom
The One North Development will
feature an Old Chicago Pizza &
Taproom next to Meierotto Jewelers
on the corner of Armour Road and
Taney Street. This 6,356-squarefoot
restaurant will feature unique
specialty brews, pizzas and signature
entrées, and a large outdoor eating
space."

Why are they building a mini-Leawood a mile from downtown? What a waste.

Anyone have any updates on this project? Last I had seen it still looked like a giant dirt pit.

There are apartments currently under construction, but that's the only thing I've noticed recently.

In addition to the apartments at the south end of the area, two hotels & conference center are currently under construction across Diamond Parkway from Meirotto Jewelry. Old Chicago Pizza is under construction next to Meirotto's and a new Burger King is under construction at the far east end of the area across from Bank of America.

One North development begins trek with $43M apartment project, pair of Westin hotels
...
The Backyard at One North will add 240 apartments to the heart of the development, which is being led by master developer Rick Worner. Springfield-based O'Reilly Development is developing the apartments.
...
The other components of One North are coming along as well, Worner told the Kansas City Business Journal.

The One North team recently competed a 38,000-square-foot medical office space and have started construction on two 100-room Westin hotels.

In addition to those, he said the team is getting site plans redrawn to help adjust for the interest from entertainment venues.

One North's master developer said the development still will include a golf simulator similar to that of Top Golf and a FlowRider restaurant and wave simulator. Beyond those concepts, the plans include spaces for Old Chicago, Burger King and Starbucks.

The medical office building indicated on the map (Lot 9B) is a chiropractic clinic.

Looking south from Armour Road.

Looking NE from the new road, called Diamond Parkway, running through this development.

Looking east from Diamond Parkway at the new hotel (Lot 5), which appears to be an Element and ALoft. Sorry for the dark image. I tried a different angle and kept getting direct sunlight in the image that was causing a white line through my screen.

The new apartments on the south end of the project (Lot 1), and the west side of Diamond Parkway up against the interstate.

Looking north.

Looking northwest.

The Old Chicago Pizza restaurant on on the SW corner or Armour Road and Diamond Parkway (across from Helen's bar) is almost finished (Lot No.-8). The new Burger King restaurant on the far east side (Lot 10) on the project is also nearly finished. I assume they will tear the current Burger King down (Lot 9A), and rebuild a new restaurant structure or completely renovate the current building.

There is a top golf thing going up where Metro North Mall used to be. The ten story fence thing can be seen from 152.

Old Chicago and the new BK are both open.

Will try to snag pics soon if I remember. Apartments are still framed and covered. Hotel looks somewhat farther along with nearly all exterior cladding up.

I don't go that way much anymore, the last time it was clearly a suburban design though much denser than what was there before.
