Does anyone know what will replace this development. I saw an article with the twin oaks building and was sad to see we lost so much density. Hopefully the next iteration will be taller

Nothing

The chancellor has appointed a Campus Student Housing Study to determine what to do with the space, which occupies a large amount of valuable real estate between Oak St. and Brookside Blvd.

The university’s ability to actually build on this plot of land is questionable. According to all recent reports, the state has slashed funding to UMKC, and Agrawal has stated to UNews that money is in short supply, despite an increase in tuition last year.

The site is ideal for private sector investment, which should be enticed by the streetcar stop.

More details. Project budget around $50 million.
This project would construct 500 beds of new student housing primarily focused on undergraduate students in either suite style or community living style configurations. The site and configuration of the housing will be determined in future market studies and master plan site studies. It is anticipated that the project will be developed through a public private partnership model (P3).
As of June 18, 2020, this project is in the conceptual phase and is on hold. An architect has not been selected. A program planning study has been completed, but a firm timeline for construction has not been established. The project is included in the University of Missouri System's 2021-2025 Preliminary Capital Plan.
