135th and Nall is Prairiefire. Which has one of the most unique buildings in the city.
Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
It also happens to be the one unique building in Prairiefire.flyingember wrote:135th and Nall is Prairiefire. Which has one of the most unique buildings in the city.

Time for a new facebook campaign to save the arches (and marble & metal work)??
This really bothers me!! Those are fine materials and really beautiful, too!

It is just such an ugly building it is pretty hard to get too upset about changes.

I just don't understand why they can't keep the ONE attractive feature on the outside.
Are they going to sell them? They look like they are stone and marble.

And translucent alabaster. Maybe they can move the crowns to Crown Center. Always wondered why you cannot see a crown at a place called Crown Center.

Well, at the very least, they are adding a lot of windows to the building, which will improve its' appearance, and make it less like a mausoleum.
Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor LOFT and Pottery Barn Kids will close on the Country Club Plaza by the end of January, KSHB reports. Ann Taylor will also close its location at Oak Park Mall.
This adds to the growing list of vacant storefronts on the Country Club Plaza (the most notable of which being Halls, of course). It seems like 2015 should be a very busy year for the Highwoods leasing team.

Jimmy Johns Drive thru is already in the works the drive thru would have to go in the back of the building thoughbeautyfromashes wrote:I also saw that Firehouse Subs has closed. Seems like it just opened!

Did you return it? They make a big deal about that on their radio ads.chrizow wrote:firehouse subs is terrible. maybe the only sandwich in my lifetime that i refused to finish.

Just don't think that area gets enough foot traffic. Or good parking.
Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Has anyone checked out the Plaza 211 page on Highwoods' website? Have a look: http://www.highwoods.com/PropertyDetail ... 63F7C0A73B
I noticed that the small photo in the top left corner of the page has a rendering of the northwest corner of the building that differs from the original rendering by Slaggie architects. I noticed that the storefront has gold-framed windows, green awnings, orange doors and a blurry logo for Tory Burch. All of the design elements are characteristic of a typical Tory Burch boutique.
I know that this rendering doesn't confirm that a Tory Burch store is going in that space, but it definitely alludes to the fact that that there's strong interest and possibly a negotiation taking place.
The Kansas City market, particularly the Plaza, is perfect for a Tory Burch store. The next closest store is located at Plaza Frontenac in St. Louis.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
It's more likely they placed a well known high end brand in the rendering to make the property look more upscale.
Like the Pickwick Building put an Apple Store inside their retail space rendering.
Conversely, why would they put something with clear allusions to a specific brand unless it was coming? Serious retail chains don't like to go into negotiations with rendering giving away potential plans.
