Does anyone know what's going on with 613 Forest Avenue. Is it being renovated, or demolished? Three additional houses have been demolished on the south end of the block.

Big Affordable Housing Project Planned Near Downtown on Paseo
An ambitious plan to redevelop 11 deteriorated apartment buildings along The Paseo between Ninth and 14th streets into 197 affordable apartments was approved by a city development agency Thursday.

The $18.5 million Jazz Hill Apartments project is intended to provide affordable housing and a social service network to support its residents, particularly veterans, according to developer Maxus Properties.

The large brick apartment buildings to be renovated were built between 1896 and 1906 and are located along the west side of an impressive stretch of the historic boulevard. Eight of the 11 buildings are currently vacant.
I didn't realize that most of these buildings were vacant.

These are some of my favorite buildings in the city and is a great sign they’re thinking affordable too.

I hope we can get some renderings soon. It looks like a great proposal.

If I recall several pages back, the developer behind the previous plan basically said "well, nobody wants this lot so I'm going to put no effort behind a design plan and build a shitty one story strip mall." Glad they are being proven wrong.

Renderings are available through the link to the KSHB story. Nothing impressive, could be worse.

This reflects my expectations for most new projects in KC. It's like our city's mantra for new development. Sad.

I would like to say that both ARterra and Reverb are awesome additions. Both deserve some credit. Not that I disagree on some of the new buildings being blah.

Getting any development in Northeast is a pretty big deal however. So I agree that it is nothing special, but the fact it is being proposed is pretty neat.
