New Building on W.39th - 1001 W. 39th

Driving along w. 39th last night I noticed construction at the southwest corner of 39th and Clark, decided to look up info on kivanet.  It says it'll be office and residences.

It's designed by Mary Cyr, who also designed some of the townhomes they built on Gillham (the stuff on the east side of the street, not the apartments on the west).

Should be interesting to see what this turns out like, it seems to be pretty urban, no egregious setback, and there are windows facing 39th.

There's another thread about this building on here somewhere, but nothing different reported other than retail on bottom/residences on top.  I can't believe how quickly this is going up - and says occupant-ready in September.  They've completely upgraded the neighborhood by tearing down that white building and I can't wait to see what design style comes about.  Once the church moves into the boarded up buildings at 39th/Roanoke these couple of blocks will transform one of the ugliest stretches of 39th.

I'm glad something is FINALLY replacing that burned out old church that had been an eyesore for so many years.

The church project is hold.  They are having trouble raising money during the recession.

Any news on when they will start construction?  They ignore neighbors' emails asking about the project....
