Loar voted no because in her own words she has been told it's falling down since the 90s. I have no words.

Loar, among those who championed a $36 million soccer park in the Northland that was approved by the City Council last month, said no one disputed that the garage needed to be replaced. But she said she was concerned about paying for the project.

“This city has so many needs right now, so many, and we’re in a budget deficit,” Loar said.
She didn't seem to be so concerned about budget deficits when it came to approving that $36 million soccer park.

Of course not, most fiscal conservatives are ok with unlimited spending for their district.

This was an incredible comment. She admits she is responsible for kicking the can and not maintaining the ctiy’s assets and then continues to refuses to take the steps needed to fix existing infrastructure, all the while voting to approve NEW assets in the north. Id say she is a hypocrite, but i think she really is oblivious to it.

I’m more upset with the urban council people who voted for the soccer park. If there was some hope of reciprocity, proverbial back scratching this pretty much shows that Loar has no intention of ever returning the favor and a smart politician should have seen that.

I really doubt this, which makes the situation much worse.

$70 million price tag. Cleaver thinks the Feds will pay for it. Hope to open it before NFL Draft 2023

The City is also seeking to build additional affordable housing units on the Barney Allis Plaza site. The significant reconstruction project for the parking facility provides an opportunity to include additional community benefits such as affordable apartments, ground floor retail, and a public plaza. The design phase of this project will soon be underway.

Interesting. Seems like an odd location for housing, especially if they keep the plaza/park aspects. Housing around it but immediate neighbors are hotels, convention center, and auditorium. Maybe an office building that was proposed, renderings, & has now gone poof

its because the plaza is a transit hub and surrounded by service industry jobs.

Power and Light district posted this. Is Cordish now involved in Barney Allie Plaza?

no, that is the old park design. That is just an old model of downtown. You can see the original designs of the Cordish residential projects in the back. Art deco esque

Very intriguing model. Is there a way for the public to see it?

A KC that size would be kinda cool. I'd scrap the building outlines.

It’s located on the 2nd floor of One Light. Cordish office isn’t open to the public but I’m sure you could make an appointment to see it. It’s very cool!

300 units of mixed housing to go here per Collison. BAP will be upsized to 700+ spaces and plans to develop next to KCS HQ are shelved.

Cool. I had kind of warmed to the KCS plan but with them selling I'm sure they were out.
