Hmm. I have "Kansas City, Missouri; An Architectural History, 1826-1990"
Not a single reference to the Long Lines building.
However, there are the dioramas of Crown Center and the 911 Walnut building with the radome.. I'll learn to upload photos

I think this is a relic of the
@AIAKC
"KC80" plan for a civic center for downtown. A lot of these ideas were implemented, but this building was true to mid-century architects' vision for downtown. Photo from MVSC

Wasn't it built that way to survive an EMP? Thought I read or heard that somewhere.
