Seems excessive. I wonder if the building is being constructed so that extra levels could be added to the top in the future?
Unlikely. It would benefit them to state that at the beginning, which they haven't. Copaken did that with the Corrigan garage (but it's unlikely they'll actually act on it).
Did not know that. How much can they build on top of it?

Construction permit for "drilled piers and temporary shoring" was issued on Friday.

So do we predict this building will actually get finished?

As long as construction isn’t paused due to quarantine, I think it will keep chugging along. Retirement Plans still pay fees during downturns.

Permit delays, supply chain breakdowns, construction worker sickness -- I'm not optimistic.

Have they actually started the foundations or are they off the job?

I wouldn't think so because the project hasn't been approved. AFAIK they're only approved for demolition.

They got rid of that ped walkway as soon as they thought we were all quarantined away

They are approved for foundations as far as I can tell.

I'm so soured on this project due to them thumbing their nose at neighborhood requests to have the building meet basic design requirements.

If they can’t add retail to the building itself, I wish they could add a place for food trucks or stalls to set up shop there on 14th.

Unfortunately, they are going to do the bare minimum. Food trucks aren't too hard to handle but to them, it may be significant challenge.

That view will change when (&if) Three & Four light are built. Should be an impressive towering view from the freeway below unless the much needed cap is built over the south loop. Loews and the KC Star buildings will be the south side towers from that view with the possibility of others along the south edge. Anyone know of any plans along the south side of the trench?
