I don't see how this block can really be "walkable". It's an island surrounded by barriers to making it walk friendly to the rest of the city. Make it dense, but this will be a drive to type development. Sadly I don't even think Broadway had a decent bus line on it.

Be nice if Los Tules could find a home in the new development. That would also serve to provide a little street interaction for a project that looks to occupy potentially 2 blocks of Broadway.

The renderings on Clockwork's website are different than what has previously been out there. I do not know which are the most recent:

The most noticeable change is the southeast building. I don't think I see any other big changes

nice, the previous showed 3 tall buildings, making things a bit more closed off. I like the new SE building being shorter, but also more open with the glass but also more dynamic with the overall angular styling.

At least each building is generally different. Would make the L-shape building a bit taller to give a tiered look and also ground floor access to sidewalk. Thought it's all glass now (looks like a lobby) and could be easily modified in future. Nice that parking is underground.

And the parking access is from Washington rather than Broadway. Very well thought out.

I like the short building, which now appears to be office space.

How close to being financed? Long short or realistically close?

It looks like there is parking access on Broadway as well. Look closely at the small office building.

Opportunity Zone so they are not going to ask for city incentives. Considering it is an opportunity zone project near transit and in a strong market, I think this is a sooner rather than later.

Ah yeah I see i. If connected to Washington, they should get rid of the Bway access.

Would like to see rendering including KCPA. Think this would be about the height of the tip of the opera house? Overall "L" shape of project could mirror shape of Loews and be corners of frame for KCPA.
Wish they would restore Denny's to all its original 1960's Googi splendor. Unlike southern California, KC does not have much of that silly and fun style around.

I swear, 300 years from now, when downtown looks like central Tokyo, that Denny's will still be there, engulfed by dozens of skyscrapers

That Denny's does stick out in it's surroundings and I would love to have the space for something else for sure. But if it's got to stay I agree with Moderne. Let's make it the most awesome Denny's in America. Renovate it to it's 1960's historical roots. Make it like dinning in museum, an ode to the bygone area of suburbia. I mean we have the Suburbia History Museum in OP why not take this to a fun, dare I say artsy level with a meticulous renovation with an eye on historical accuracy. Whomever owns it could make a mint with the publicity of doing something like that. Denny's Corporate stands to benefit as well.

It will be nice to see this project start. The design is pretty good. Hopefully more things come up in the near area in the future.
