I would really love whomever owns it would turn it into a living a museum of sorts. Still functioning Denny’s but restore it to the 1960’s glory of the Denny’s heyday. Keep same menu and everything but make it in the style of the original. Go retro from the design of the building, interior & exterior. But down to the menus and uniforms. Make it the most unique Denny’s on the planet. It would work on so many levels

Probably shelved for the time being. High-rises are expensive to build and the city is not likely to grant incentives for this.

It's in an Opportunity Zone and I believe they weren't going to apply for city incentives.

They were looking at city incentives including sales tax exemption.

Denny's has closed. So no more Denny's memes for 2360AD (although it was creative).

Denny's closing is the best news in a long time.

This update opens the block for the complete redevelopment.

Maybe Copaken wants to shoot a shot at Opportunity Zones before they close up

I believe this 1650 Broadway project is still on but this news, sorry Denny's and any impacted workers, hopefully can shine a light for development to connect the block. There has been some minor development along Broadway to SW BLVD. Would love to see this Stretch become more involved with development and "bold" design choices that would compliment the beautiful Kauffman Center atop the hill

@ Normalthings:

All of the developments not already underway are likely "in-review".

HOWEVER, this COVID baloney is a chapter which will certainly close. One should consider these projects (1650 Broadway) to be "conceptual foundation".

Post COVID, the 1650's or the Strata or the 12th and Grand projects will be dusted-off, revised; then proceed in some form.

Denny's: I have a beautiful panorama Skyline photo hanging over my home desk -- you all probably have the same framed photos, which were popular years ago. One of my photos is from Crown Center looking downtown.

Beautiful skyline. ..And sitting near this architecture is a damn Denny's sign. SMFH.

Sorry I was asking a question/hoping it was still a go. I have no idea. But sounds like you have better info that it is on hold

Denny's water disconnect permit. Can be a sign of impending demo.

The Business Journal reports that a demolition permit has been filed for the Denny's.

Looks like Je Dunn selected as constructor for 1650 Broadway. Dennys about to be bulldozed (different owner/site)

Does that mean they are going to start construction soon?
