As lego block buildings go, not bad but would be nice to be a little taller, like maybe one half 12 floors. There's a lot going on, more than Collins can keep up with.

Here's a link to a bigger version of the photo below.
From the looks of it on Google Streetview, it would replace the Farm To Market building and front the east side of the City Club Apartments project.

With so many surface lots around downtown it's sad when functional existing buildings are being replaced but at least its denser development with apparent sidewalk retail space (or apparent opportunity for in future).

I suppose the ugly garage on the Bob Jones site is to accommodate this project.
The BDI / Bearing Distributors building north of this surely won't be around much longer at this rate

Based on the number of floors and area of this development, I'd estimate this project has about 100-130 units.

300 spaces seems like way overkill. I understand that above ground parking is cheaper short term, but not how KCMO should be utilizing prime Crossroads land.KCDowntown wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 11:05 am Based on the number of floors and area of this development, I'd estimate this project has about 100-130 units.

6 floors by 1/2 block should give us a whole lot more than just 100-130 units. I would guess closer to 250-400.KCDowntown wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 11:05 am Based on the number of floors and area of this development, I'd estimate this project has about 100-130 units.

City Club peaks at 6 floors with many lower sections plus and internal parking garage that takes up a significance amount of space.

I agree - but the building doesn't span the whole block. In the larger image you can see the red Bearing Distributors building and some parking lot on the same side of the block.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 11:51 am 6 floors by 1/2 block should give us a whole lot more than just 100-130 units. Good point, I didn't notice that. I'll revise my estimate to 150-250 then. The parking garage is a bit big (with your or my estimate) but makes some sense if the Price Development goes up across the street.KCDowntown wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 12:08 pmI agree - but the building doesn't span the whole block. Looking at the larger images, it would appear 1/2 - 2/3 of the first floor is minimally screened parking. Hope that gets pushed back on by the neighborhood.
Re: 20th and Walnut - Oddo Development
This looks great, and is very exciting. I don't think this justifies a block long garage along Grand--but perhaps they're unrelated....
EDIT: I must temper my enthusiasm slightly after learning of NSPJ's involvement

Re: 20th and Walnut - Oddo Development
Oddo owns that entire half of the block. If this project is only going to be 1/2 or 3/4 of the block then they must have something else planned for the rest of it.KCDowntown wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 12:08 pmI agree - but the building doesn't span the whole block. Re: 20th and Walnut - Oddo Development
I'm wondering if the Bearing Distributors have a long=term lease of their building; and Oddo has to wait that out before an annex can be added to the apartment builidng, or build a stand-alone unit that is similar.
Re: 20th and Walnut - Oddo Development
This project is still in the works and is in the early planning phase.
