I gave 1 suggestion. Either that or we could buy it.

$450 large....that's what it costs to purchase a condemned, historic building in the heart of the central business district....at least that's what I heard...

But then you got to fix it....another $500K+????.......and find parking......then make it work.

What did the Law building sell for??
Is the Professional building listed (officially or unofficially)? If so, what's the amount....

Alrighty, lets get our pennies together. :-)

Actually, I'd be interested to see what kind of financing could be had and what sort of plan we could come up for the building. It is a cool spot. I rode my bike downtown last night and stopped by. There is a pretty orange "dangerous building" sign on the door and the sidewalk is fenced off. There appears to be some various junk inside.

I'm not sure if the building is really that dangerous or if that is just politics to help get rid of it in the name of progress. I can't see what Wallstreet Tower stands to gain by getting rid of the building. There has to be parking already in place if the building was anything close to fully occupied with offices at any time. 1115 barely reaches to the bottom of the actual tower structure, so I doubt it is about views.

So, who has a half-mil sitting around?

That building used to house a 2 story Wendy's back in 1981, I worked there and the place served about 5000 people for lunch. Man... those were the days.

like downtown said, 1115 Walnut is as good as dead. There was a column in yesterday's paper about it and how the city really couldn't do much....couldn't take over the property from the owners....all they can do is knock it down and charge them for it.

They will still own the land and probably do nothing with it....will be a nice big hole in a key area of downtown.

WRONG!!!!! There was a contract on the property about two months ago, but the City was unwilling to lift the demo order. Due to that issue, the transaction fell through. It sucks, the City is demoing a perfectly good building (other than a little pigeon crap) due to bad ownership. If the City demos it, the property is still in bad ownership. It should be the goal of the City for a friendly entity to obtain control & rehab. Its sad, I saw a plan for Wallstreet Tower to put a drive thru at that location. If they tear down that building to put a drive-thru in somebody should be flogged!

Bottom line is it boils down to politics...The City (i.e. mayor's office) committed to the developers of Wallstreet Tower to do something to the Ho Building (1115). That something is demolition....which in my mind is unacceptable. :(

I agree, that situation totally sucks. The column talks about the space underneath the public sidewalk being so bad that it might fall in...just another "reason" to tear it down?

Does sound like the city got all chummy with the Walltower people who wanted it down.....who should be contacted about this?

The sidewalk is another issue...$50-60k to fix...not a problem.

Unfortunately, I think the City has made up their mind...Maybe when Wallstreet Tower fails then they will reconsider...?

Looks like a good spot for a bar.
