Cambria Hotel(SW Corner of 9th & Wyandotte)
Re: Cambria Hotel(SW Corner of 9th & Wyandotte)
There was a streetcar there. When I get back to my NJ home; I'll have to go to my library and give you the name of the old KC Streetcar book.. I bought it in the late 1980's or early 1990's. I'll go back there tomorrow.

This photo shows the streetcar rails in front of the Savoy Hotel.

Anyone know how long those smaller structures have been gone that are on the site where this new hotel will be built?

The Yeager Hotel (east of the Savoy) still exists in the 1940 Jackson County tax photos. I think the newest car in that photo of the Savoy Hotel is a 1950 Chevrolet.
More tracks. This one shows streetcar tracks on Wyandotte too.

I do not have that one -- YET. ..But I will.DaveKCMO wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 2:57 pmA Splendid Ride: https://www.amazon.com/Splendid-Ride-St ... 0972273980
I asked the Frau to look it up for me. My "Kansas City" section.. "Where the Streetcar Stops"

The feature of the city was the tunnel and trestle from 12th street (?) down to the West Bottoms. Evidently, "Worlds of Fun" would have been jealous.

A few of the submittals were updated.
The Wyandotte side went from 2 car holes to only 1
the bad:
Less glass (windows and storefront) on the 9th street side
Building height reduced by 4'
Re: Cambria Hotel(SW Corner of 9th & Wyandotte)
The neighborhood pushed for the elimination of one car hole on Wyandotte. Glad to see the developers took what we said to heart. They were pretty reasonable to work with which was refreshing. Don't know about the 9th Street side, I'll have to look at the drawings.Critical_Mass wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 11:19 pmthe good:normalthings wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 12:01 am https://compasskc.kcmo.org/EnerGov_Prod ... 992c4b6f3d

EDIT: I would also add it looks like they've moved their services to the west side of the building. One reason for the double garage cuts on Wyandotte was to allow for easier dumpster access ( ) but fortunately they were able to relocate to the alley. Good stuff!

and across the street to the east, surveyors were marking the alley and sidewalk next to John's Garage - a charming dilapidated relic and monument to a car-centric city. Maybe under contract by now.
Re: Cambria Hotel(SW Corner of 9th & Wyandotte)
Was confirmed by the owner recently to be under contract. Something to watch for those of us with holdings in the area!ToDactivist wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 10:15 pm and across the street to the east, surveyors were marking the alley and sidewalk next to John's Garage - a charming dilapidated relic and monument to a car-centric city.
