Construction bid lead. No info if you don't have an account.
They sure are betting on getting those incentives.

Is this just a move to take super tif off?

I assume no one has an issue with tif. It's vacant land.

At this point, the developers are moving forward with Super TIF.

They had an announcement on site. Teresa Loar showed up as a big supporter. Developers announced that they had secured votes from most of the council. The next step is to introduce an ordinance at city hall. The project wasn't able to make the numbers work pre-corona. I doubt it is suddenly a winner now.

Didn't the rest of the council announce on Twitter shortly after that boast that they did NOT have the votes?

I think so. It’s possible they had the votes but they shouldn’t have opened their mouths.

That's like the entire story with this project. Keep your mouth shut and you might squeak through (even though they shouldn't get a super TIF).

Talk about disappointing. I'm sure we haven't heard the last of this project. I guess back to the drawing board for them.

Isn't this hotel project being developed by the same people that built the performing arts center, Halls, Kauffmans etc? I just feel like the city could do more for these people in return. They have given so much to the city. On paper, yeah it's corporate welfare, but in reality, I kind of support it. So few people and companies in KC really care about the city, giving back a little to those that do care wouldn't be a bad thing.

As far as I know, no it isn’t. The developers for this project are a guy from Cushman Wakefield and a hotelier from Colorado. Kauffman is involved so far as they would be selling the land to the developer. I don’t think it extends beyond that.

Same price tag as the original 2018 proposal. Hard to tell what’s going on here

ENR gets their data from the DODGE construction reports that we post here from time to time.
