OFFICIAL - Ashland at River Market
Re: OFFICIAL - Ashland at River Market
Crews are putting up protective shields on the nearby power lines today.
Re: OFFICIAL - Ashland at River Market
One of the best RM infill projects. Will be nice to have that nasty lot developed. Hope they don't blow it.

Re: OFFICIAL - Ashland at River Market
Even when construction agrees to make a pedestrian passage (5th and grand) it just gets moved and nobody checks up on them and it deteriorates to nothing.DaveKCMO wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 3:45 pmExpect the 3rd Street sidewalk to be closed for the duration of construction.

Re: OFFICIAL - Ashland at River Market
Not sure if shown before but Ashland has proposed a dining patio facing/along Grand in the public ROW. Very good news IMHO

Re: OFFICIAL - Ashland at River Market
Isnt that diagonal reserved for move of the Streetcar stop if/when riverfront expansion occurs? I guess that could be a long way off though and a patio would be a great use in the interim

I don't think they plan on using the entire area. I was just trying to illustrate the general area in which it would go.

Here's a mockup of that corner. It haa the sidewalk being moved and nothing is taken for track. Opening it up for tables and umbrellas would be a great use.

Re: OFFICIAL - Ashland at River Market
I'm glad to see this start.
Between this, 3rd and Grand, 5th and Main and the townhouses/row homes talked about previously, the River Market area will get denser. Just need to fill in some of the other lots and expand the success into Columbus Park.

Nice infill project. I count 7 floors on the rendering. Does that height preclude wood construction?

Re: OFFICIAL - Ashland at River Market
There are 2 floors of structured parking (concrete/steel). The 5 remaining floors can easily be stick frame. Centropolis on Grand (same developer and architect) was of a similar size and is stick frame.Highlander wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:03 pmNice infill project. I count 7 floors on the rendering. Veolia steam pipe repairs and Ashland demo going on at once. Photo from KC Streetcar.
Is there any progress on the demolition?
