Glad to see this one underway. The more residential units around the River Market and along the Streetcar route, the better.

Looks like the basement extends under the sidewalk.

The GC confirmed the sidewalk was held up by bricks and sand.

The views south from this building could end up being the best in the city. Has anyone seen the what the north elevation will look like? The upper floors facing north should have nice river views.

The riverfront heritage trail google street view shows the problem with the north view

The very top units will be able to see over the asian market, but there's a line of trees even taller.

It's almost a quarter a mile to the river from the building and there's a lot of drop, it takes a somewhat steep angle down to see the river well from that site and there's just enough buildings in the way to block anything past a shallow angle over the buildings for most units

Maybe the top two floors will be able to see anything of the river in winter.

Well at least a great view of the landmark ASB bridge.

Not for most units. The Asian market will be in the way for the lower floors.

The bridge is down and to the right quite a bit. Ground level of the new building might be above the top of the bridge.

The angles are going to depend on which unit it is, the top floor could have nice views, but even the floor below could be dramatically more limited

I see it being 4 stories taller than all the neighbors to the north, plus I think the city will someday soon start clearing out the junk trees along the riverfront so it's more like it was in 1950.

Look at all those "before" buildings in River Market and the I-70 footprint. What a waste.

If I make it back to KC this year, and no one has a little drone, I could send my up to get a look at how the views will be from this project site.

Absolutely agree. But look at the "before" railroad freight yards that replaced 19th century architecture. Now we have apartment buildings, first class apartments at 2nd & Delaware, right on top of the old freight yards. Once this city was built right up to the river. If we have dreams of removing the north loop and correcting that scar, then we should be able to imagine negotiating with the railroads, and bringing the unused river bluff back to urban uses.

New building plan appears to have been approved today. Hopefully will see actual construction start shortly.

Some newer drawings can be found under attachments. Looks like the hold-up may be this encroachment permit.

Any news on this one? We're going on six months with a hole in the ground and closed sidewalk.

I think that sidewalk-underground-vault thing threw them for a loop.

There have been some new permits and things since they tore the building down. Needed to get approval for parts of the building will hang over the row IIRC. Spike in lumber prices could have paused this. not sure
