Downtown needs thousands of these

Post by earthling »

Well maybe hundreds to start with. These are in every pocket park in NYC (exactly the same) and am glad to see this park (12th/Walnut) has them. NYC bought 10s of thousands of these and didn't care if people stole them because they are so cheap. After a period of time fewer went missing and the benefit outweighed the lower annual rate of replacement.. There is a significant lack of places to sit around downtown KC. Time to barrage downtown with these, starting with the platform at Union Station streetcar stop and Washington Sq Park across the street - and every downtown area that barely resembles a pocket park.

12th/Main...

If you're interested in urban spaces (and what makes a good one), I really recommend taking a look at the work of William Whyte. Fascinating stuff: https://archive.org/details/SmallUrbanSpaces
