the hotel will be 'translocal' (the developer's word), meaning just about every furnishing will be sourced locally (in addition to the restaurant's food and the bar's alcohol). they're already working with local artists. this thing will rock the hotel scene, just like 21c if that thing ever gets off the ground.

separately, some have told me that financing for hotels is starting to lock up. this boutique wave may end before the petitioners have their final say?

not really. they opposed the fed deal, even though KCSD testified in favor.

going to PIEA tomorrow. should start construction in the fall.

changed the name of the thread since it won't be called the iron horse (each project is unique, iron horse is their milwaukee hotel).

It was never going to get a biker/pet theme, but figured the name might have stayed the same. The only reason why it has that theme in Milwaukee is because it is next to the Harley Museum and Harley is founded/HQ in Milwaukee

Hotel developers are also rescuing long-empty properties in the Crossroads. The Aparium Hotel Group of Chicago and investors are converting the old Pabst Brewing and Pendergast Distillery buildings at 2101-2107 Central Ave. into a 124-room hotel and community meeting place.

John McGurk, attorney for the Crossroads Hotel developers, said the properties are in the redesign process now. The developers are working on financing and hope to open the hotel for guests in the fall or winter of 2017.
