I’ve thought the same thing. It will be interesting to see what happens whenever we get into air rights battles in KC. Does anyone know if there are any regulations in place that govern this?

The only one I really recall is the fuss over the proposed condo building about 10 years back that would have blocked views of the PAC.

The 17-story Accardo project proposed for 18th & Broadway in 2007 would have definitely blocked one of the two protected views of the Kauffman Center (the view from I-35). I doubt it would have blocked the view of Liberty Memorial.

There was a minor kerfuffle over Arterra, but that was quickly squashed by a height study that showed no impact to Kauffman's view of Liberty Memorial (and a generally supportive neighborhood).

It will be much harder to work around the I-35 views since the terrain does drop steeply like it does to the south.

The next likely 'fight' will be over continued building on surface lots along Main Street, which would block some great views of the skyline that are not protected in any way (and the DX-15 rezoning allows unlimited height there).

Corrigan Station 1 leased for $20-30 per sqft. Station 2 is on LoopNet for $38 per sqft - a pretty healthy increase.
You may remember the October CitySceneKC article that noted rents of $34-35 per sqft would spur new build offices. CS2 leasing quickly at its proposed rate would put us solidly above that magic line.

Also bummed they added that 10 ft tall fence on the courtyard. Probably to keep vagrants out

Corvino will be opening a fast-casual concept called Ravenous which will have counter service facing this new courtyard. Featuring burgers, fries, and malts and building on that. Opening in July.

I missed it too until today my wife saw a Q&A with Michael Corvino in her FB feed. I need to add 435 mag into the reading rotation. They recently had a good article about Mexican food in KCK that introduced me to some new spots and regional specialties

Hopefully this will encourage other James Beard caliber chefs in town to experiment with fresh sidewalk counter eats, maybe something a little more adventurous than burgers but still approachable.

Could see Affäre with a high end brat counter, Michael Smith with a panini/fresh thai wraps counter, the Garrelts with a Mediterranean counter, etc. A food hall with James Beard noms could work but even better if streetfront sidewalk counters, which downtown is pretty light on.
