Baltimore is going to look so great with a high rise Waddel and Reed building. Also thanks for the pictures.

I think this looks good. The Loews sign looks like it needs to be slightly bigger, but overall I give it a B+.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
I've been in town this past weekend and got some pictures of some projects. I'll start here.
40th Floor of the Sheraton Hotel
Near 14th and Wyandotte
In between Truman and 14th on Baltimore

Sidewalks are being poured on Baltimore and 16th

I assume they're waiting to install the panels to hide the parking?

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
I continue to hope that daily. I'm getting fearful.
Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
The roof top mechanical screening is yet to be installed also. No need to be fearful.

According flyingember property owners can do whatever they want.

At least it will be shady walking by all that sun baked masonry. You can enjoy looking in the distance at something interesting and not the wall of nothing alongside.

It's a mess at the ground level for 90% of the building. Baltimore and 16th is particularly bad. The new (no tax incentive) hotel across the street and Sporting offices get to enjoy loading docks and car holes as their permanent view. Wonderful.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 5:27 pmYour disdain for this building is very strange to me
Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
Large convention center hotels with large capacity meeting spaces by definition have to have some almost warehouse/industrial loading dock situation.
The other choice would have been to place such up on Wyandotte facing the ballroom greenspace and the Kauffman center. What do you think could have been an optimum design for this?

The pedestrian experience is a lot better with this building there then it was with the empty lot.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 5:27 pmYour disdain for this building is very strange to me

Good question. What's an example of a convention hotel in an urban setting, built in the age of ubiquitous car ownership and semi delivery of paraphernalia, that gets it right?

Yeah it's a tough one if you HAVE to pick this one location especially, which obviously we didn't. the elevation change made Baltimore the obvious choice. Maybe use a private alley type situation? Covering like PAC did along Broadway hiding their loading dock?moderne wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 5:59 pm Large convention center hotels with large capacity meeting spaces by definition have to have some almost warehouse/industrial loading dock situation.

Outside of that the 16th street experience is also poor.
Obviously what was done was the cheapest option.

Are you sure about that? Can't wait to walk down Baltimore and dodge trash trucks, ltrucks (un)loading ,and cars entering/exiting the garage. There are like 8 different points to get smacked in one city block.normalthings wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 6:02 pmThe pedestrian experience is a lot better with this building there then it was with the empty lot.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 5:27 pmYour disdain for this building is very strange to me
