Hyde Park resident Paul Helmer from Touch of Distinction devised the interior color scheme. I haven't seen it yet, he's going to take me over to check it out one of these days.

I thought so....Paul mentioned it to me a few times and I think it was Grand Ave Temple.
Re: Grand Avenue Temple Celebrates Centennial
The end of the article mentions the new color scheme. It'd be nice to see the outside of the building cleaned up a bit...

Unfortunately no mention of its architect, John McKecknie. The Star does a lousy job of mentioning architects.

I wish they could restore the pediment which seems to have been stripped sometime after 1928 and before the 40s. They could even use fake stone or tiles to memic the original design. It just looks naked now.

It's probably moldering in the basement of Architectural Salvage.Midtownkid wrote:I wish they could restore the pediment which seems to have been stripped sometime after 1928 and before the 40s. They could even use fake stone or tiles to memic the original design. It just looks naked now.

They probably couldn't afford to repair and maintain it, so they took it off.
