did you read the article? there has been a dramatic improvement in terms of satisfaction.

no way you can tell me people living in tongie or basehor are that happy.

There are different ways to gauge happiness, and there are different environments people prefer to live in.  Some people like the quiet and seclusive nature of places like Tongie or Basehor, while others enjoy the city life.

Pretty sure my old building had a 35# limit but I guess the newfoundland I always encountered in the elevator just looked bigger than his weight.  We also had a dude who thought it was a good idea to keep three golden retrievers in a loft.

Yeah, I can't image three dogs living in a loft....my boxer will just have to adjust to not having a back yard.  He's kept inside during the day anyway, I'll just have to walk him more instead of just letting him out in the back yard and him doing his thing.  But after 5 years of home ownership, I'm ready for something different...at least for a year or so.

i say rent a house in westside, columbus park, longfellow, or union hill.  good for the pooch, close to downtown, and old houses are awesome.  union hill in particular is dog-friendly due to union cemetery's transformation into a de facto off-leash dog park...

after zero years of homeownership and just watching/hearing homeowners I knew I was ready for something different.

it will take an adjustment especiall with a dog...but gotta give it time, it is a culture shock....but once you are used to walking to the store, work, bars....i can't imagine not being able to walk to those things.

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I understand only the first 1500 folks get the goodie bag.

That's another option I'm considering...what's the best way to find rental homes in these areas (just drive around?).  I didn't see much in craigslist...maybe I just didn't search long enough.

Anywhere between $800-$1200 I'm guessing, could go higher if needed.

Is surprising they allow anyone to take the survey, not validating if a downtown resident.

Yeah, I'm really surprised they don't better filter it. I really hope they don't use it as some mandate of resident opinion, since it is very unscientific. They also don't assess priorities of the issues they ask about very well.

Would have been smarter to do a general downtown living survey

Do you live in downtown KC?
are you interested in living downtown?
Are you looking to buy or rent?
Do you rent now and want to own?
What is keeping you from moving downtown?

the detail on number of people looking at rentals vs purchases alone would be worth the survey

I wasn't too impressed with the survey itself.....wanted more open ended questions.
