Kevin Collison is reporting that Fountain City Winery is coming to the West Bottoms and will be located at 1409 W. 11th Street (between Liberty and Hickory streets).
...
The new Fountain City Winery occupies about 4,000 square feet in one of the century-plus old brick warehouses of the district.

The plan calls for the couple to produce and sell their own wines using local and Coastal juices including Bordeaux red blends, chardonnays, rieslings, fruit wines and dessert wines. Mulled wines and sangrias also will be offered.

West Bottoms Flats Primed for 90 More Apartments
Melissa “Missy” Ferchill hails from Cleveland and while a passionate Browns fan, she thinks the Chiefs should have been penalized for spearing over that controversial end zone fumble, her firm continues to invest here.

MCM Company is planning to begin a $24 million second phase of its West Bottoms Flats development this summer, completing the renovation of the historic Abernathy building at 1525 W. Ninth St...

...About 40 percent of the apartments created in the historic Liberty, Wyoming and part of the Abernathy buildings are leased...

...Ferchill said the strongest market so far at West Bottoms Flats has been for smaller studios known as micro-units. Monthly rents start at $825 for a 312 square-foot micro-unit...

...The second phase calls for renovating the remainder of the Abernathy into 40 micros, 42 one-bedroom and eight, two-bedroom units. The building exterior will be repaired and the interior will be reconnected to the rest of the building.

The project also calls for continuing the green infrastructure and storm water management components of the remainder of the West Bottoms Flats development, and residents will be able to use the existing courtyard and outdoor spaces.

The Abernathy rehab already has been approved for $4 million in federal historic tax credits and $5.5 million in state historic tax credits.

If construction begins this summer, the second phase should be completed by the end of 2022.

Great news. I wish they would give a tour of that building before they renovate it.

Maybe time to rename thread as WB is indeed being redeveloped.

What other large buildings/projects are still in the planning phases, what large warehouse space still needs to be built out and what has been done already?

Done-
Stockyards Phase 1
Stockyards Place Lofts
West Bottoms Flats Phase 1

In Progress
Stockyards Phase II
WB Flats Phase II

Drawing Board/Prospective Buildings
- Weld Wheels (Never gonna happen unless new owner buys it)
For sale on Loopnet

1225 W 8th St
Universal Supply Co.
Kansas City, MO
$375,000
10,000 SF Industrial Building
Built in 1963

911-915 Wyoming St
Kansas City, MO
$1,895,000
Specialty
68,250 SF

1400 St Louis Ave
Kansas City, MO
$575,000
22,656 SF Industrial Building
Built in 1889

Any Haunted Houses that may close because of Covid and be re-developed?

The area could really use some basic curbs and sidewalks, bike lines along with street trees. The streetscape situation there is very bad, as you'd expect from an industrial area. If I was a developer, I would definitely be buying up everything I could. I think this area is going to boom in the next 10 years.

Not sure if a question of density versus needing a regional plan in place. No way a TDD would work to get to KCK either. Next Rail estimated $71m for starter line down 12th street viaduct w low probability for Federal match.

I like Dave's idea for NKC to KCK route.

What was his proposition again, I meant in the future when we build out along the line more.

Rock Island Bridge
The Kansas Department of Commerce is funding project evaluation and updated renderings. The Dickinson Foundation has committed $150,000 to the project, and the Kansas Department of Tourism has committed $25,000 to upgrade the lighting plan so that the bridge is more attractive and can be better seen by travelers on I-70 and I-670.
Enterprises Generate the Revenue for Public Crossing

CID and TIF revenues generated on the bridge are dedicated to paying for the Public Crossing
Funds from Flying Truss revenues would make up any debt-service shortfall--meaning the UG receives a new public crossing at ZERO cost
https://rockislandbridgeproject.org/about-us

I don't remember seeing alot of these renderings.

I think it’s about time this thread’s title was re-named—maybe just West Bottoms Redevelopment?

Updating thread names in this version of the forum software is a pain (unless someone else can figure out a mass change method), but I've started.
