Much of the first floor is blocked off. Escalator is already gone.

I would think that One Kansas City Place will have to follow soon.

Hopefully someone will come in with some modern product and really scare them.

Perhaps that's why the BofA branch is moving across the street? Clearly there's a good reason to improve the existing Class A than throwing a bunch of incentives at new construction. The other late 80s/early 90s towers could also use some repositioning.

Do we know if the old BofA will completely close? The new BOFA will be entirely virtual.

We do not know. Just an assumption based on what other banks are doing downtown (such as Commerce and UMB -- their lobby footprints have all shrunk).

Elaborate?

Anytime you gloat about the removing and stripping away the only thing iconic you've got going... You're probably just screwing yourself over in the end. It is beyond ironic, and slightly moronic to hear them say "Improvements will ...include the removal of the iconic staircase". Tell me that doesn't scream idiocy.

Now you're going to have a nice, modern atrium as before.. with no connectivity to any of the other spaces and floors you see. Forget EVER gaining back ANY 2nd or 3rd floor retail shops and restaurants as the building had in the past. This will kill that idea in a heartbeat.

walked by plowboys today and noticed that there's a lot of visible demo work that's gone on -- booths missing, flooring torn up, etc. plowboys website suggests it's "closed for renovations" and will reopen "late spring." they haven't done an incredible job at conveying whether they're open or not generally over the last year or so but i guess it's probably a good sign for their future intentions that they're doing some actual work to the space.

So can a "tube" pedestrian cross from the Commerce Bank Arcade building connection directly to the Jones Store building connection without having to go down to the first floor? That is the improvement I most wanted from this remodel.

Too bad they did not do something with exterior lighting with this remodel. Tube lighting outlining the basilica on top would be distinctive.

It wasn't really that good, was it though? The bbq wasn't made on site. They would open up a bag of cut up brisket that was kept in a warmer oven. I mean, it was fine for DT lunch food but I don't know if there was any real mantle to take up.
