The walls are going in. Looks like a structure in the lower east lot too, design looked like a parking garage

Here is a photo of construction of a new structure the site of the former City Ice Building, and some sort of addition on the existing warehouse building to the east.DaveKCMO wrote:truman has acquired the city ice building and will demolish it to build something ugly, probably.
Does anyone have any idea what is going into these buildings?

I don't mind the building. What I don't get is having a building with somewhat interesting architecture and then adding the most generic-looking parking garage ever built right next to it.

Sadly it looks like the garage violates city code...

code says must set a garage back from the sidewalk and provide green space or hide it at ground level.WSPanic wrote:How so?

In theory, they had to submit plans to get their permits. So, I'm guessing they had approval.

University Health opens in downtown KC
http://tinyurl.com/oe4o4mdUniversity Health, with services provided by Truman Medical Centers, opened at 2101 Charlotte St. in downtown Kansas City Wednesday.
Construction kicked off for the 90,000-square-foot outpatient specialty care center in July 2014. The new facility cost $29 million, and opened for patient care earlier this month.

CPC is set to hear Children's Mercy plans for a 9 story tower on top of an existing 3-4 story garage located on 23rd between Gillham and homes.
These are images and renderings from the approved master plan on the city's development tracker site:

Re: Hospital Hill activity
That should be a pretty prominent addition to the skyline in that area. 9 stories on top of a garage on a hill?
