New Project Map

Post by KCPowercat »

Check this out and let me know what you think should be added/dropped/etc.

http://www.kcskyscrapers.com/mapproject/Movie1.html

Also let me know how fast it loads....I just did the CBD of downtown right now....I'll work on the crossroads and rivermarket if this is something people think might be useful. Thanks.

I'll put it in the website's main menu if it gets a positive response.....probably replacing the old project map that was here:

I REALLY like it...it's sweet...very professional.

My only suggestion would be to zoom out on the map itself or allow that ability.

Easy for YOU to say :)

Zoom out you mean see more of the city grid? Probably won't be able to give the user the ability with how I drew up the map itself but let me know a little more of what you'd like to see and I'll see what I can do.

It's just a suggestion...overall what you did looks great. I just like to be able to put the area in a larger context, but that's a completely personal thing.

I wasn't trying to be a smart ass, just kidding around.....but I think it will be impossible to do. OK not impossible but hard. If you zoomed out would you still want to see the project circles? How far out, say river to 31st type of zoom out?

One thing I might add is a picture pop up of the landmarks if you hover over them and the "show landmarks" is clicked.

Also maybe a brief slideshow of all the projects listed.

I only did ones that are U/C or pretty sure to get started....I can add some more as well but wanted to get it out there for public opinion before I did too much. I kind of know what I'm doing so feel free to suggest anything.

Also give me any more landmarks I should add...

Very cool, nice job! =D>

My screen is set at 1024 X 768. At this resolution, I don't see much below 14th ST. So, when I put my pointer over one of the numbers, I don't see the entire building picture. I also don't see the note that says to click for more info - perhaps put that at the top of te white box? When I move my pointer to scroll down, the hover turns off and the picture disappears. At first, I didn't understand what to click on to get more project info. I was trying to do the building picture. Maybe make it say (click [orange ball graphic] icon for all project information)

I've got the Windows task bar at the bottom of my screen, so I don't have the full 768 pixels available.

ballroom yes, PAC no...that will be in the Crossroads map since it is south of the loop...this map just is the CBD loop.

Devin...

1034 Main...too speculative
parking garge...done
Federal Courthouse....should put this in there
Hanover.....wanted to put them in, that "block" was getting full, I'll squeeze it in
Jones Store...should be in there
NABC museum....wait to see what's up with that....I think it's going to be in the arena though
National Garage....too ugly...wait to see what's replacing it
TWA....too speculative

KC, how did you make that map? I'd like to see if I can do one with Kansas City skyscrapers and monuments

That map is great! Is there also a general map showing the different neighborhoods? I am familar with places like Brookside, the Plaza, etc. but am not sure of the locations of the Crossroads, Quality Hill, and a few others.

Very nice. Looks like that took some time.

Might want to default to the 'show landmarks'.

Looking forward to Xroads map.
