Happenings Thread or Calendar feature?

As suggested when I posted an upcoming event in the "General" thread -- what does everyone think about a "Happenings" thread or a calender onto which we can post events and make minor comments or updates? It might be a great way to keep track of what is going on in the city and we'd have the most complete and diverse listing of options as anywhere. I think it'd be a great resource to post things we know about and always have a place to go to find some entertainment, education or activism.

Thoughts?

When this forum first started I did create that board but it was cosolidated.....I'd be willing to put it back in if people wanted.

It will be tricky because forum topics are listed with those most recently updated listed first. It will be hard to keep track of the chronology of it. Perhaps we can involve a third-party calendar or something to avoid you having to re-open that thread. I'm not sure how much discussion it will afford.

calendar has been tried too....I didn't have the time to keep it up....of course I wanted ALL KC events in it. I could relook at a calendar option...maybe something as simple as a Yahoo group calendar.

Take a look at http://upcoming.org/metro/us/mo/kc/...might be an easy way to do this.
