Man, I dunno, GRID. That's pretty hardcore. I've been to a Wal-Mart in West Virginia... the images still haunt me...

Pennsylvania was pretty close, I thought, but yeah. Beautiful landscapes populated by scary people.

Rural PA makes southern MO look people look like they are from the north side of chicago, and I'm talking 30 miles from philly.  PA is what everybody out here pictures KS (and MO) to be.  It's no wonder they think the midwest is so bad.  They see rural MD, PA, WV, VA etc and think the midwest has to be even worse. But it's not, better in most cases.

I miss Anniewarbucks, whatever happened to her insightful comments like when she was serious about the possibility of moving Kauffman Stadium downtown since it had pre-fab components...

Whoever said that most people think KS and MO both suck was right on the money.

did a law pass disallowing people to move?  If you think the region sucks, feel free to move along, the attitude of 'this place sucks' isn't getting us where we need to be.

People would just move to the east coast and continually come back here and bitch anyway. Wouldn't make a difference - except, now, they will have an annoying east coast attitude and continue to tell us that "random state out east" > MO/KS. Too predictable.

I never thought about it that way, but you are absolutely right. And that realization is completely depressing. Although I don't totally follow the north Chicago comment due to the unfortunate behavior I have witnessed in Wrigleyville...
