Nope. If memory is correct the parties pay nothing. However funds raised by the host city may go to cover part of that, just not sure.

Good, I don't think I want to deal with whatever shenanigans could go down, however unlikely (it it doesn't seem that unlikely, let's be honest).

Yep. There's a high potential for things going bad very quickly.

Totally agree. I don't want to invite that kind of thing to my backyard.

Likewise, that would surely mean that you would also not support having a DNC in KC?

Until things settle down, we should steer clear of any convention DNC or RNC.

yeah most likely for the best. Would have been nice to get that injection of revenue for a week and all of the free publicity & press. But given the current climate, which could always calm down, steering clear of the RNC or DNC is best practice IMO.

Focus on getting the other big tickets items right, NFL draft, and maybe World Cup.

Got a feeling these conventions are going to end up deep within the friendly confines of their respective bases to minimize any kind of goofiness. RNC in Orlando, DNC in LA or NYC. Play to your strengths where you can get your message out and not have to worry about the press focusing on anything going on outside of your convention. People may not like it, may call it divisive, but PR people call it smart and controlling the narrative. At this point no one is changing their mind about the other guy, be smart to plan an event in a location that minimizes trouble.

How about the Libertarian convention? I'm sure the midtown Marriott would welcome the 200 people
sure, why not. If they have the juice & cash to be able to hold a convention why not? It would be no bigger than say the cheerleading & dance competitions that are at Bartle Hall each & every weekend it seems 8)
