City Walks

Post by Walker »

I am interested in starting a series of city walks. The idea is to get a group together to walk and explore different areas of the city. I created a poll with some ideas of walks to pursue. Please comment if you would be interested or have suggestions.

Length of KCMO E/W (spread across multiple weekends)
Length of Troost (spread across multiple weekends)
A collection of selected short segments (Troost from 25th to Armour, Main from CC to Plaza, etc)

I'm way too old and broken down to do that anymore!

I never got around to doing the full length of the city north-south, as at the time (13 years ago I think?) I couldn't find a walking route south of Red Bridge where I felt safe from traffic without adding multiple miles having to cut back and forth east or west to safer streets. So the closest I ever got to a north-south bisecting was 435 & N. Woodland to 435 & Wornall.

Mileage-wise, the Liberty Courthouse to the Olathe Petco walk (was supposed to end at the Olathe courthouse but I ran out of stamina and the will to go on living, hence the anticlimactic finish line) was definitely my distance record... and probably also a contributing reason I eventually needed ankle surgery!

Happy to assist with any streetcar content. I lead streetcar walking tours for a few years before the line opened.
