Does any one know if there is a size requirement that needs to be met in order to be considered a house. What kind of red tape legal hurdles would need to be addressed in order to build one. Is there any place online The public can access that has a list of building ordinances

Here's a link to the online codes library for the City...not sure of what you're looking for is in the zoning and development code but it might be a good place to start.

There's two things to this question
      1. layout compactness
      2. layout sizing

      Practically speaking, start here

I've been through codes enough to know there's not any requirements on how small you can build, but you need to meet certain sizing requirements like doorways around accessibility and your design is going to control a lot of that. Your sizing will be based around the basics like the distance a stove door drops or the minimum width needed to get into a bathroom

I figure you could get away with about 300 sq ft for a 1 bedroom

If you do it studio style, you can get down to around 175 sq ft. That would be about 15x12
