I'm off this week and am planning on drinking coffee, reading, and people watching. I've got the first two under control. But where is the best place to see the world go by? My current go-to spot is Parisi in Union Station. Suggestions?

I've always liked watching the people standing on liberty memorial from the north lawn. Some nice benches under shade around there.

We like Kaldi's on the plaza for people watching, esp the location over by Capital Grill. Nice patio seating. The outside seating at Broadway Cafe as well.

In addition to the above...
Fountain at Mill Creek Park, as well as pickup futbol/games and other occasional quirky antics
Delaware and Opera House streetcar stops are a nice place to vege out when active
Busy dog parks can be interesting even w/out dog
Midtown Costco food court can provide anthropological case study material
...as well of City Market on a weekend of course

Nomads or Bux...one of those coffee shops along 39th near KU Med are perfect for watching everything from professionals to homeless to students to goths out doing whatever it is they do, going wherever it is they go.

I love people-watching.

You can sit in Kaldis and catch pretty good traffic at 12th and Main. Or sit in Cosentinos by the windows along 13th. Or if its nice out, sit in the tables tucked back along 13th street by HR Block

Anywhere in the City Market on a Saturday or Sunday.
The most remarkable array of humans walk by.

Thank you, good suggestion. And I can get a Salty Lox at Masunaga.

Little late but I've recently discovered the Made in KC Cafe patio at 12/Baltimore. It's small, right out on the sidewalk and provides a great view of central downtown and 1KCP, along with tourists, businessfolk, nearby residents, etc. Can pick up a book at Central Library down the street as well.

Surprisingly great little spot. Good espresso and local chocolate options also.
