Pretty both were taken during late summer

Good catch, I didn't notice that my 3D-rendered car was in the same spot.

In fact, the boundary line between the new and old imagery has made it so that my my 3D-rendered car is both at home and at work simultaneously.

Not Google Maps but the Jackson County parcel viewer has a pretty recent satellite view map layer you can view:
https://jcgis.jacksongov.org/apps/parce ... bMap1.aspx

The imagery is from within a couple months as you can already see the UMKC dorms have been demolished on Oak

Woah that new terminal looks huge, that scale really puts it in perspective.

It's 98% the size of A + B + C combined.

Old: about 1.1 million square feet
New: ~1,086,000 sq ft

What I find interesting is I didn't realize how close parking will be to the tower. Also can see how leaving the airport will have a good view of the runways.

Old terminals are about 2200 linear feet end to end. New terminal is about 1500 feet across each leg and the "bridge' is about 800 feet. So 4400 feet old vs 3800 new.

But yes looks huge in comparison.

98% size, 1000% the functionality. Hard to tell the scale from the road.

KCMO Google Maps satellite view is from around Aug 2018. It's over 2.5 years old at this point. We are overdue for an update.

I assume they just pay planet labs for these? I think they try to keep everything within three years so you're probably right.

I just look at it on the internet, so it doesn’t need updating. I’m not sure what it’s like outside of a browser

Very fresh "satellite" data (EDIT: looks like it's Sep 2nd AM [Saturday]) from Jackson County in the parcel viewer: https://jcgis.jacksongov.org/parcelviewer/
(select the 2023 Aerial basemap & turn off layers - top two squares in top right corner)

2-3" resolution from Nearmap, might be the highest quality ever publicly available for KCMO!

Yesterday, I noticed a Send Product feedback key in the lower right hand corner of Google Maps and suggested they update their satellite views around KCI. Low and behold, today, the KCI area satellite views have been updated to include the new terminals.

Not sure what the deal with Google maps is, and whether or not the interface is personalized, but the satellite view I've been looking at until today absolutely did NOT have the new terminal on it. I was checking out the terminal a couple of days ago because I had to pick someone up at the airport and all it showed were the 3 horseshoe terminals. The actual map version had the new terminal but the satellite view absolutely did not. I complained about it yesterday to Google and it was updated today. At least on the version of Google Maps I am looking at - and why in the world would I make that up?

Others on this forum have also mentioned the lack of updates on Google maps around KCI. Here is a post from KCPowercat on June 14th 2023 in the new airport thread: "I do not seen the new terminal on aerial yet. That is weird." I've checked Google Maps many times since that time with the first appearance of the new terminal on satellite view being today.
