It hasn't been going well, many positions haven't been filled and only about half of reports are generated - though maybe partly due to pandemic. Biden's new Secretary of Agriculture might simply allow hiring in either KC or DC according to source in article. If the case, KC probably still benefits than if the move didn't happen at all but might not have been worth the incentives.

Don't create the promised jobs? Don't get the promised incentives. I am not worried

^Fed jobs on MO side of KC metro have indeed increased since USDA move, by about 2K last couple years. There were about 600 expected with the move from DC. Ten year trend...

BizJournal on USDA update...
https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/ ... enges.html
A number of employees opted not to relocate, however, and the USDA has struggled to fill the vacancies, which has led to overworked employees and a steep decline in published economic reports. The headcount at both the ERS and NIFA is down by about half.

One proposed solution is nixing the requirement of hiring employees in the Kansas City area and allowing prospective candidates in either Kansas City or Washington, D.C., to join the agencies.

Of all places, Zoom has a KC office. 1 of 5 US offices. They have a total of 10 across the globe. Looks like the employee count here is in the hundreds

JoCo scored an HQ from Phoenix area that provides fiber/IT/geospatial services. 100 tech/corporate jobs. It doesn't mention incentives involved in this report.

Yes, my guess is Facebook with the new Data Center in the Northland. But maybe it will be some combined info about a few of these projects that have solidified details and they will expand on them more.

Would love to hear something about the South Cap loop as well. But who the hell knows anymore.

I know it isn't to downtown but NIC is moving from Olathe to OP. About 300 employees and acquired last year for 2.3 billion. Hopefully this is a continuation of companies moving closer to the core. I mean check out this quote:
"We considered staying in our location but didn't have enough amenities to be the center of gravity for our employees," NIC COO Elizabeth Thomas said."We always felt like we were a bit on the outside, and we are very dedicated to the Kansas City metro since we were founded in Kansas, and we felt like this was the best place to grow."

Garmin to add 900 jobs in Olathe.

Wish they would do more downtown, but neat to see them continuing to expand
