Sidewalk cafe regulations up for review

Post by KCMax »

Council will review at 1:30 today

Sidewalk Cafe Ordinance
This ordinance, if passed by Council, will encourage
new operators of sidewalk cafes by removing several regulations.

Ord. 030692 (Sub.) legalized the operation of sidewalk cafes. This ordinance updates regulations established by that previous ordinance.

Specifically, this ordinance will remove the application fee; allow the caf? to expand to an adjoining space if approved by the adjoining property owner; remove a 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. prohibition; and exempt
sidewalk cafes from duplicative encroachment permit fees.

Funnily enough, quite the opposite is happening in Minneapolis - there was a proposed regulation going around that would severely limit the operation of outdoor / sidewalk operations - hours, capacity, etc.  With an exemption for the author's district (nice, huh?)
