Dunkin' Donuts returning to KC area in Nov 2008

Post by StL_Dan »

Does anyone know what part of the metro will be home to the first franchise of the 60 new franchises forecasted to open in KC?

I’m wondering when the metro will get a Dunkin’ Donuts. I love their products and find myself going to Lawrence some weekend mornings just to get a fix.

Earlier this year, Dunkin’ Donuts announced plans to expand in the Lawrence area with four new operations in three years — one in November, one in July 2009 and two in 2010. Another Lawrence location has been open since 1982.

“As far as Kansas City is concerned, we do have an announcement pending,” said Ellen Bookman, spokeswoman for Dunkin’ Donuts.

I wish they'd hurry their sweet ass up.  I hate donuts but I'm a big fan of their croissant sandwiches and coffee.

I moved to KC last year from the east coast, where there are Dunkin' Donuts on every other street corner in the urban areas. Having at least a few of them here would be welcome....  Their coffee is great BTW.

I know it's not a Dunkin Donuts, but for anyone that remembers Winchell's Donuts that left KC about a decade ago, there is still one left in KC....sort of.  The Winchell's at 95th & Mission Rd became Maq's donuts.  I was visiting with Maq one day and he showed me all the product he had in the back room.  Everything comes straight from Winchell's.  All that changed was the sign.

So if you miss Winchell's as much as Dunkin Donuts, we still have one in KC, just under an alias.

Start mentioned recently that the Lawrence expansion is on hold and at this time they have no plans for KC.

Am I crazy, or did they at one point say they would be coming to KC?

They said they would be making an announcement about KC "in the future" but never had any specific commitment.
