Looks like they want to renovate that store and expand it. It's at least 25 years old so it's long overdue. As are renovations in Shawnee and Lenexa. Better to renovate than to pull out (like they did in Leawood - but there they wanted public money to help the financing).

So now you have two STAR bond projects in JoCo basically competing against each other. The Bluehawk and the Great Mall redevelopment. Both trying hard to find something, anything, that they can say is a "destination" so they can build out these projects in outer suburbia with tax revenue ...

Any news on the Hard Rock hotel or Menards store supposedly going in out there? Seems like projects move really slow getting developed in that area.
