Re: Wichita's Downtown development
Triple-A baseball team moving from New Orleans to Wichita in 2020, will reside new riverfront stadium and entertainment district. https://www.ksn.com/news/kansas/triple-a-baseball-will-come-to-wichita-with-new-downtown-stadium/1420173779 Outstanding that it’s triple A too bad it’s the Marlins :)

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown
Moving Rockhurst out of the area won't add 10k students to UMKC. Those kids won't transfer because Rockhust moved. Correct. I looked up the Rockhurst enrollment. They only have about 3k students. So, wouldn’t increase UMKC numbers even if everyone transferred. It would provide additional facilities...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
On a slightly different topic I was extremely surprised to find a shoe shine man operational by Delta (Concourse B) Monday at 6:30 am. Of course I had to avail my self of his services. He said it has been 17 years since KC has allowed a shoeshine to operate - which would be very strange if true. Reg...

Agree with the urban trails. Highly recommend the 4.5 miles of Rozarks Trail in Rosedale (between 39th and SW Boulevard)

Re: 34th Terrace & Main
Although 164939227 & Metcalf is pretty funny, I didn't mean anything offensive. I had seen her earlier post on the Plaza at main street about lots of homeless and now this post on an (IMHO) underutilized but what could be very important part of Main and was curious whether she was in this gener...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Bob Jones Shoes is closing. https://www.kmbc.com/article/downtown-kansas-city-icon-bob-jones-shoes-closing/22779380 Sorta surprised, but not really. Last time I was in there, maybe a year ago, place was pretty dated. Found a couple pair of dress shoes I liked, but none in my size. Bummer though. Wi...

Darlene you have the strangest and most negative posts... this building looks great and will massively improve the neighborhood. Just curious, what part of the city do you live in?

Sports Park at 40th & Wayne
Cool news video from KMBC on Chris Harris' work to build a sports park (mini golf and pitch & put course) at 40th and Wayne. Looks like he is making progress.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
The plaza has so many handicaps between single ownership and zoning restrictions that it's going to be hard to change. Is there much harm in letting it become an older part of the community? Neighborhoods change and I think the plaza is moving more towards retired baby-boomers on the outside and sa...

Re: Westport
That is a real pretty building. I just wished it was located some place else. That area is not to good there is a lot of homeless around there. Are you talking about the building at 43rd and Main (photos above) or a different building. The old Nature's Own is a great location, just north of the Pla...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Earthling- Are you picturing a small place like The Sundry or a larger grocery like a Whole Foods size? Honestly, the Plaza just seems so old to me. It’s where people go that don’t know KC is so much more than it was in the 80s. The towers along Brish Creek are basically retirement communities and ...
