Re: Downtown Q3/4 (re-)occupancy needed - service industry needs love
National hotel occupancy has been improving, however... - It's starting to level off - Revenue per available room (RevPAR) is below 50% compared to July 2019 - Daily rates are 27% below last July - Interstate hotels/motels are generally doing better than downtown hotels that depend on events - Lowe...

Re: N-S Bike Path in Urban Core
I think this was normalthing’s idea, but I’d love if PVP and Liberty Memorial and its grounds were consolidated into a unified, National Parks Service-run grand park. Interesting idea. Does anyone have any idea how much the IRS facility is utilized? It’d imagine the volume of paper filings they rec...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The four blocks in East Village are smaller than Target Fields site, you would have to bleed over into the half lots by the highway. The IRS processing center is a very roomy site for a stadium. I love that idea but have no idea if the IRS site is still in heavy use or if the feds want to reuse it ...

I knew this board was far left leaning but Yikes  You guys are just as bad as the conspiracy theorists on the right. Then why aren't you banned? If you're here for conversation, let's have that conversation. If you're here to "dunk" on anyone you will probably not survive. LMFAO......

Re: COVID19
My $0.02: Normalizing death is shitty, no matter what type of spin you want to put on it. For the people somehow still yelling about Benghazi, this virus and our lack of response to it has already killed magnitudes higher of our service members and vets. Even catching the virus would amount to a cas...

Re: Ward Parkway Center
Anecdotal from the location they’re building (more of a renovation, previously a mattress hub) near me, Torchys stopped pretty much all work from March through mid June. Guessing Ward Parkway was further along and there was a push to get it open.

Biden doesn’t constantly speak in word salad, so that’s already a good start if you’re worried about cognitive decline.

Did the Hy-Vee distribution center closing (https://www.kcur.org/economy/2020-03-10 ... -lose-jobs) actually happen? Seems like exceptionally poor timing, if so.

https://www.nimblebrewing.com/ Tough time to open, but they appear to have opened for can sales last week. Part of “brewer alley” with Double Shift and Border. I haven’t given them a try yet but will to offer some support. Their one barrel (31 gallon) system would appear to be a blessing right now....

Updated showing 26.5M jobless claims. Broader industries are being hit including layoffs expected for state/local govts. Wouldn't be surprising if more than 3M hit next week. Some economists thought we'd peak at 25M lost by May but already exceeded and likely more coming. https://lh3.googleusercont...

This " I hAd a ReSpIrAtOrY iNfEcTiOn tHiS wInTeR aNd It WaS CoViD" stuff is some of the dumbest and more dangerous stuff out there. It will get large numbers of people to quit being careful, which will in turn get them infected. It's amazing how fast so many people become epidimiologists, ...

McClatchy is already trying to sublease half the space that they had built out for the Wichita Eagle just three years ago. 181000 square feet in their old building down to presumably about 8100 now is a pretty crazy reduction. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/330-N-Mead-St-Wichita-KS/18510963/ Video ...

Very interesting. I wish they'd share some names attached but I guess it's early? Who speaks on their behalf at these events? If anyone goes please report back. Their funding seems legit with the caveat they haven't shared how much they've raised. There's a couple names listed on their team page .
