Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)
Yes, the lake would, and undoubtedly does, receive polluted runoff. Not saying it's nice, just saying the lake isn't solely dependent on a small spring for its water supply. So, a larger lake might not be impossible.

Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)
Given it's place at a low point in the terrain from three directions, the lake shouldn't be dependant upon a small spring for it's water. Just a thought.

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)
Damn them carpetbaggin' Indy investors! Trailerkid, do you realize how parochial you sound? This is a perennial complaint in KC. KC hates outsiders. All the while out of town developers - MAC, Cordish, Lux and others move this city forward while homegrown owners/developers - Price, Tower, Copaken an...

Re: GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's some good reason they've lost over half their population in the last 50 years. 50 years ago, KC was 1mil behind SL in population. Now, with, at best, modest growth, KC is 600k behind. They can disdain all they want. I grew up outside SL and harbor no ill will. Loved being part of the 10th la...

It appears that very little of that space is being used for the purpose for which it was created - if used at all. What a shame. Thanks for posting.

A 300 unit building on that lot should have some height, right?

Re: 18th & Vine Jazz Festival
Same old story in KC. UMKC gets short shrift in this effort. I'm guessing the Dr. Jacob Wagner on the board is the guy on UMKC faculty in Urban Planning and Design, but UMKC gets no mention. Also missing is any indication of participation by the Conservatory. Obviously, a sore spot for me.

As an aside, two other composers born in KC: Virgil Thompson, a not-too-well known "classical" composer, and Burt Bacharach.
